FAQ

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is a prime customer?

Become a prime customer when your accumulated recharge is more than $3000. Here are some major benefits of a prime customer:

  • Provide a full set of iRender features or customize a new one for your requirements.
  • Use a maximum of storage capacity in Z drive (equivalent to GpuHub_Sync).
  • The unlimited number of system images.
  • Support Redshift floating licenses and Octane License on iRender servers.
  • Premium support (an enhanced level of technical support for prime customers).
  • Receive exclusive discounts and offers.

I can’t see my software as a pre-installed software so I have to install it by myself?

According to what we offer, you have full control of powerful GPU servers through Remote Desktop Connection. You need to install software or applications on your own and use your own licenses. Interestingly, you only set up the machine once because our system will automatically save the machine environment after each working session.

Is my system image reusable?

Yes. Your system image will be saved after each working session. Your machine environment, such as software, applications, in the hard drive will be safely stored as well. All system images that you create are available and reusable.

When is my image capacity in red alert?

On the top-right corner of the image screen, next to the 3-line menu icon, you’ll see the image capacity. It shows how much data is in the hard drive (C/Desktop) of the remote server. The image capacity has a significant impact on boot time. The less data is stored in C/Desktop, the faster boot time is.

  • Good image: the image capacity is under 25GB. The boot process can take quickly about 5-7 minutes.
  • Normal image: the image capacity is 25-50GB. The boot process can take slightly longer, about 10-30 minutes.
  • Bad image: the image capacity is over 50GB. The boot process is extremely slow, with more than 30 minutes

Your image capacity is in red alert when your image is the bad one.

Tip

  • Free up space of the hard drive by removing installers or even project files from Desktop/C drive.
  • Save only software and applications on Desktop/C drive

What are the differences among Normal shutdown, Schedule shutdown and Shutdown to clone?

  • Shutdown to clone is to clone an existing image (or server) and all its storage devices in case you want to have multiple system images that are the same. It enables you to take an exact copy of the existing image without setting up the machine environment again.
  • Schedule shutdown is to turn the server off at a certain time in the future. This feature is helpful when you are busy and do not have time to keep an eye on the server screen. Just let the powerful servers render your projects and get the results later.
  • Normal shutdown is to turn the server off after you finish using the remote server.

What is the difference between C drive and Z drive?

iRender provides a solid-state drive (SSD) for each machine. C drive is a hard drive while Z drive is a network drive. C drive is to perform heavy tasks that require high computing performance, such as rendering, training Deep Learning models, etc. Meanwhile, Z drive, synced with GpuHub_Sync, is to transfer files.

  • The hard drive (C/Desktop) is better at data recording and transmission speed than the network drive (Z drive). As a result, rendering through the hard drive is much faster and more stable.
  • Set the output path in C drive instead of Z drive. If putting the output in Z drive, you may get a problem of not displaying your rendered files. It is because while your project is being rendered, the rendered files may not be saved due to loss of connection.
